Our Purpose
Kardia Learning Center (KLC) is a community of Christian
home-schooling families pursuing the common goal of Christian education. To this
end, KLC exists to equip home-educated students with critical thinking skills
and a broad base of knowledge essential for effective, Christ-centered living.
Philosophy Behind Our Purpose
KLC member families acknowledge the authority and
leadership of Jesus Christ, and depend cooperatively and individually upon our
Savior for success in our home-education. Using the Bible as our standard, we
believe that God has equipped each parent and child with unique gifts, which
should be used to build up each other and to honor the Lord.
Accordingly, KLC seeks to encourage an environment where
positive Christian relationships can be established and mature. As a key
component of this process and our academic program, KLC gives emphasis to the
development of Christ-like character in our children.
Objectives
In order to
uphold our vision and fulfill our educational philosophy, KLC families work
together in putting the following objectives into practice:
-
Provide a
weekly gathering of home school parents and children that complements their
core curriculum already taught at home.
-
Place a high priority on the
development of Christ-like character, and incorporate the development of godly
character as a key component of the academic program.
-
Provide instruction and
practical application of biblical principles in the classroom, and model
biblical principles by personal example.
-
Utilize a
classical curriculum
incorporating varied and appropriate teaching techniques such as field trips,
hands-on activities, group instruction, public speaking, drama,
art, games, music, and a wide range of reading and writing opportunities.
-
Create an opportunity for
mothers to share in a devotional time based on biblical truth. "Mom time"
facilitates mutual sharing and encouragement that will enhance the
home-educational experience.
