Model, Teach and Develop
The major challenge of
discipline for Kardia Learning Center parents is to model, teach, and develop in our children a
life-long relationship with Jesus Christ. The development of this kind of
spiritual maturity can only occur by the grace of Christ and the discipline He
offers His children. At times our children become
disorderly and need continued
reinforcement regarding proper behavior and Christian conduct.
It is our policy to verbally affirm all students whenever possible for good
behavior or participation, whether in the classroom or during other activities. Teachers will
give positive reinforcement to our students who participate in class each week. A
concrete reward (e.g. ink stamp, certificate, etc.) may be given periodically to
younger students who make exceptional contributions during class.

Standards of Conduct
KLC parents desire that their
children learn to respect God's authority figures, which in this scenario are
their teachers. We also recognize the need for teachers to maintain order in
class, so that effective instruction can occur. Principles and Standards for
conduct and training at Kardia come from Matthew 22:37-40, which speaks about
loving and honoring the Lord Jesus Christ and loving others. With this passage
in mind, following are the principles and standards KLC has adopted for our
children:
-
Students are expected to
obey the first time. Disobedience or disrespect of those in authority at
Kardia will not be tolerated.
-
Kardia
maintains a high standard for academic honesty. Students are expected to
uphold this standard in all of their academic endeavors.
-
Students will do their best
to learn what is being taught or instructed (whether academic or character
related)
-
Students will treat their
classmates with care, concern and consideration.
-
Students will take care of
the property God has given us all; thereby demonstrating good stewardship.
-
Students will be timely and
orderly out of consideration for others, fostering an effective learning
environment.
Kardia parents understand and
agree that the learning center standards and rules must be followed by adults and
students, regardless of individual family standards at home. All conflicts will
be resolved with love and concern for the spiritual condition of adults and
children alike, relying on the truth of the Scriptures and the presence of the
Holy Spirit.
